Why Do We Need to Create Special Schools for Specially Abled Children?

Education is a right for all. Be it poor or rich, biases should not be the one corrupting the state of education. While in most cases children with normal needs get education, the only ones falling behind in the realm of education are children with special needs.
If It is wrong to expect learning at greater pace from them, it is also wrong to expect the teachers who have been trained to work as per conventional school norms to take care of the needs of these students.
Apart from being burdened with an improper teaching faculty, these individuals are also the victims of harsh treatments from their peers and also sometimes their teachers.
Hence, there is massive requirement of school franchise opportunities for specially abled children. While their grim state calls for more schools, however, they would be of no use, if students are not the beneficiaries of these developments, hence, while infrastructural development is an essential requisite, a number of values and practices should be held while educating and dealing with these children for their all-round development.
 Being a Patient teacher
Schools are just mere buildings, until a proper teaching faculty takes charge of the children coming with hopes to be the future of the nation. While mainstream school teachers are acquainted with teaching methods that normally works well with normal students, however, expecting them to deal with the children with special needs is a bit too much.
One of the most essential facet of a teacher, while dealing with children with learning disabilities or special needs is of patience. As they cannot be blamed for such a tendency, the teachers should get used to their pace of learning, and while teaching them they should be as supportive and nurturing as they can.
Taking care of their social skills
Children with learning disability are often the ones who find difficult to socialize and make friends. Hence, instilling in them social skills, is one of the most important job of these teachers.
Owing to their slow learning pace, these children are often ones who are criticised and ostracized by their peers, leaving them alone and less confident about social interactions.
Hence, the job of the teacher is to instil in them good communication skills, reading the body language of others, and being polite.
 Motivating Them
One of the reasons why mainstream schools and even the best school franchises don’t work for them is the lack of sensitivity and demoralising nature of education which promotes extreme competition among students.
While it is important that students are energized to outperform everyone and even their standards of excellence, however, this approach might not be ideally suited to these children with special needs.
Motivating them by praising their even little accomplishments works wonders in boosting their confidence and self-esteem.
Motivation also involves telling them about successful people who were just like them but worked against all odds to become what they are today. It is important for them to know their weaknesses, however, teachers should do it in a way that highlight their positive qualities while not overwhelming them with their incapabilities.
While most people argue that this way of separate schooling adds to the biases and inequalities already ingrained in the education system, however, it is nearly impossible for teachers to take care of the needs of such individuals in big classes and amongst students who learn at a faster pace as it would not be correct for them also to have a learning session which does not match their pace.
Hence, school franchise opportunities for students with special needs, need a big boost for equalising education opportunities for such individuals.
